Alberto Granado Passes Away in Havana


Alberto Granado passed away at age 88 on Saturday in Havana. Granado was a great friend of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara and travelled with him throughout South America as retold in the movie Motorcycle Diaries.

Granado’s relationship with Che from an early age was an example of simple and sincere friendship. A loyal friend of Cuba, Granado left his mark in Cuba in his work to develop schools and teachers in the fields of Medicine and Genetics.

Floral wreaths from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and from Cuban President Raul Castro, were placed beside his coffin displayed at the Funeral Home in Calzada and K.

Alberto Granado was creamated and as per his wishes his ashes will be scattered in Cuba, his country of birth, Argentina, and in Venezuela.

Cuba Premieres Argentinean Documentary on Che




Havana, Oct 7 (Prensa Latina) The documentary Che, A new Man, by Argentinean filmmaker Tristan Bauer will be premiered Thursday at 330 Cuban films and video halls, presenting a human, live portrait, with new profiles.

In about one and a half hour, the film deals with the life of the guerrilla, his political thinking, his family relations, an his love for literature and arts, based on a comprehensive historic research the director made for 12 years.

"I knew it was a challenge, but I had to try to transmit the concept of a man who studies, immersed in a deep theoretic reflection on a par with action," Bauer told press.

The documentary was co-produced by the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), the Center on Che Guevara's Studies, Argentina' National Film and Audiovisual Institute, the National University of San Martin, the Spanish Television, and Golem Distribution Label.

It is screened on the occasion of the 43rd death anniversary of Ernesto Guevara in Bolivia.

It is an audiovisual material of incalculable value, a portrait enriched with substantial contributions by the Center bearing his name, and unexposed images granted by ICAIC.

Cuban Children Recall Santa Clara Battle



Havana, Dec 29 (Prensa Latina) Cuban primary students recalled Santa Clara battle Tuesday as the troops commanded by the guerrillas man Ernesto Che Guevara did 51 years ago in that central province.

Carrying Cuban flags and that of the 26 of July Movement the children that performed the action went from early in the morning from the History Hall of Las Villas Central University, where Columna Ocho Ciro Redondo Che Command was, up to the province major city.

The attack to the armoured-platted train moving reinforcements, arms and ammunitions of the government at that time was re-edited by members of the Pioneers Organization Jose Marti in the monument to the memory of the historical battle that has took place in 1958.
